The Russian engine company "Kakat" was founded in 1969 by the Soviet Union for the production of military vehicles. In the 70s the USSR ordered the brand to start the production of civilian vehicles too. The Group is divided into several sectors, all of the Kakat Group:

Kakat Engine Research & Development
In the 2000s the company converted from State to private and was free to make decisions with its management and administrators without direct orders from the Russian state. Kakat State Defense is no longer reserved for Russian law enforcement and the means it produces are purchasable from all states.
